Synopsis
Mortician is a minimalist and emotionally charged drama exploring exile, faith, resistance, and moral confrontation.
Set against a stark Canadian winter landscape, the film follows a mortician living in exile whose life intersects with a politically outspoken singer determined to turn her own death into a final act of protest. Through restrained storytelling and atmospheric tension, the film examines silence versus defiance, tradition versus rebellion, and personal conviction within the immigrant experience.
World Premiere & Festival Presence
Mortician had its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. It won the Sean Connery Prize for Excellence in Filmmaking at the same festival and was also officially selected for the Perspective section of the São Paulo International Film Festival.
The film has received critical attention, including coverage and review by Screen Daily, reinforcing its presence in the international film industry landscape.
